Simit is one of the most popular and tasty Turkish breads sold in carts or in the streets of Turkey. Now we want to teach you how to make this delicious Turkish bread.
Ingredients for 10 loaves of bread
- 25 grams of Yeast or a tablespoon of dough powder
- Water: 1 cup 37 degrees
- Honey: 1 tbsp
- Yogurt: half a cup
- Salt: Half a tablespoon
- Wheat whole wheat flour: half a cup
- Wheat white flour: half a cup
- Odorless liquid oil: 2 tbsp
Materials for on simit
- Grape juice or honey: 2 tbsp
- Water: A quarter cup
- White sesame: half a cup
- Black sesame: 1 tbsp
How to prepare
Blend the dough, water, salt and honey and allow it to rest.
Mix yogurt and wholemeal flour with the rest of the ingredients and add the flour whilst Kneading, adding oil. Kneading about 10 minutes with the dough machine.
If you do it by hand, be sure to do 20 minutes.
You make a very delicate paste and a little sticky.
Cover the dough in a warm place for about an hour to double its volume.
Sprinkle the white flour over the surface and divide the dough into 10 parts. The weight of each number is about 80 grams.
Open each chin in the form of a 60cm tube, then layer and loop.
Make sure that the middle hole does not shrink as the dough will double again after the break and the middle hole will close.
Mix well the juice and grape juice or honey and thoroughly soak the dough ring in the sesame mixture and arrange in the oven tray which we have spread out on paper.
Rest the dough rings for 45 minutes to double the volume.
Heat the oven to a normal 200 ° C without hot wind and cook the bread in the middle window for 20 minutes.
Then we take the bread out of the oven and now our bread is ready to serve.
