Hazelnut Sweets

Hazelnut pastry is a simple and delicious pastry that is prepared by grinding roasted hazelnuts and mixing it with a few other simple ingredients. If you also use hazelnut oil to make hazelnut sweets, your sweets will taste better. In addition, hazelnut oil has many properties.

Ingredients :

  • Flour: 1 cup and 2 tbsp
  • Baking powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt: The tip of a teaspoon
  • Melted butter: 1/2 cup
  • Sugar: 1/3 cup
  • Oil (preferably hazelnut oil): 1 tbsp
  • Vanilla: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground roasted hazelnuts: 1/2 cup
  • Cocoa powder: 3 tablespoons

Preparation method:

To roast hazelnuts, first preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Place the top hazelnuts in a layer inside the oven tray and place it in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes. During this time, turn the hazelnuts upside down every few minutes so that they do not burn. Wrap the roasted hazelnuts in a towel and after cooling for 1 minute, rub them with a tissue to remove as much skin as possible. When the hazelnuts are completely cooled, grind or beat them until they are completely powdered.

Pour the flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl and mix together. Beat the butter and sugar well with a mixer to create a light mixture that has a light color (4-5 minutes). Add oil, vanilla and roasted hazelnut powder and stir to mix. If you want to make chocolate hazelnut shorts, add the top cocoa powder at the same time.

Add the flour and toss with a fork, just enough to mix with the rest of the ingredients. Avoid stirring too much. Shape the dough into a tube.

Wrap it between greaseproof paper. Leave the dough in this state in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours (or overnight).

Remove the dough from the greaseproof paper and cut it to a thickness of about half an inch. Place the cookies on the baking tray. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and place the cookies in the oven for 10-15 minutes until cooked through and the edges are golden. Let the cookies sit for 5 minutes before serving and cool.

To decorate, you can dip each cookie halfway in the chocolate and then sprinkle chopped hazelnut kernels on it.
