Gata bread is one of the most delicious Armenian breads, which is very suitable and nutritious for breakfast or dinner. Gata bread is actually a type of Armenian pastry that is prepared on the days of Eid, and each one has its own recipe in Armenia. In ancient times in Armenia gata bread was baked in the oven because they could keep it longer, but today you can make this delicious bread in the oven. Ingredients :

  1. White flour: 300 grams
  2. Yogurt: 1/2 cup
  3. Liquid oil: 2 tablespoons
  4. Eggs: 1 piece
  5. Butter: 50 grams
  6. Instant yeast dough: 1/2 tablespoon
  7. Baking powder: 1/2 tablespoon
  8. Vanilla and cardamom powder: as needed

Intermediates:

  1. Sugar (preferably brown sugar): 1/2 cup
  2. Chopped walnuts: 1 cup
  3. Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
  4. Butter: 70 grams
  5. Flour: 1/2 cup

Preparation method:

Melt the butter but do not bring to a boil, then add the eggs and vanilla and beat well with a fork or hand mixer, then add the liquid oil and yogurt and mix again with a mixer. In another bowl, mix the flour with the sourdough dough and baking powder and sift three times to lighten, then add little by little to our mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until the dough is collected, then knead well for 10 minutes. To get a soft dough, put the dough in a pre-greased bowl and cellophane the method, then put it in a warm place for 1 hour to double the volume of the dough and puff it.

Pour the butter into the pan to melt a little, then add the flour and fry until the raw smell of flour disappears but does not change color. Then add the chopped walnuts with sugar and cinnamon. Remove a little from the heat and fry. Set aside to cool.

Take the volume of the dough by hand, then divide the dough into two equal parts and open it in a round shape with a rolling pin, then put the middle ingredients in the middle and put the other dough on the ingredients.
