  • Castor sugar: 170 grams
  • Ordinary butter or vegetable butter: 170 grams
  • Flour: 170 grams
  • Large egg: 3 pieces
  • Baking powder: 1 tbsp
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee dissolved in 1 tablespoon of hot water


  • Confectionery sugar: 225 grams
  • Butter: 100 grams
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee dissolved in 1 tablespoon of hot water
  • Strawberry jam (optional)
  • Walnut or cherry, for decoration (optional)


Preheat the oven to 160 ° C. Grease your cake tin. (Use a medium-sized tin). Pour the sugar and butter into a bowl and stir to mix well.

Beat the eggs with a fork in a glass and then gradually add them to the mixture with 1 tablespoon of flour each time. (Make sure you do not use all the flours.) When the eggs are thoroughly mixed, add the rest of the flour and baking powder and mix gently.

Add the dissolved coffee to the mixture, mix at the same time. Pour the mixture into a cake tin and cook for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick is inserted and it comes out clean.

Then let it cool in the mold for 5 minutes and then put it on a wire rack to cool completely. At this stage, you can whip the cream.

Meanwhile, mix the sugar and butter together until soft and fluffy. Then add the dissolved coffee. Then cover the cream and place on one side until the cake is ready and cool.

Once the cakes have cooled completely, spread half of the cream on the bottom of one (leave about half of it) and spread the strawberry jam on the other end if used.

Place the cakes on top of each other and spread the remaining cream on top. Garnish with walnuts or cherries if you prefer.
